Do you aspire to grow your jewellery business? Are you questioning the best methods to promote your work? Would you like to explore what to expect from wholesaling, and the pros and cons of selling 'drops'? How do you know when to outsource and grow your team?
We are excited to welcome Susannah King, a third-generation jeweller who creates colourful fine and art jewellery, to our Creative Links programme. She will be in conversation with jewellery industry expert and consultant Liz Olver. Come and learn from and be inspired by Susannah’s journey, from starting out as a repair jeweller, to finding wax-carving as a creative medium and founding her thriving jewellery business. Susannah’s work is made distinct by its sculptural format, which has directed her style and design choices, and - when paired with her love for colour - creates a collection of works unique to her.
Susannah's jewellery is worn and sold across the world, and has been recognised by prestigious publications such as Vogue and the Financial Times. Each piece is crafted in her London store by her small, purpose-trained team of 4. Susannah's sell-out collections and one-of-a-kind art pieces have consolidated her position as a design-forward artist using both lab-grown and natural gemstones to make her works. We are privileged that Susannah has agreed to share her experiences, challenges and achievements.
At the beginning of the event there will be the opportunity to network and talk to peers, and after the conversation Susannah and Liz will be pleased to answer your questions.

The Goldsmiths’ Centre’s monthly Creative Links talks and networking events, designed for emerging makers and creative start-ups, provoke thoughts and questions which will enable you to reflect on where you are and how to get to where you want to be. Build your network, create links, learn to grow your business and become part of the community.
Details of our upcoming events and topics covered are listed in our What’s On. Every other month the event will be hosted online, should you not be able to attend an in-person event.
Our Creative Links series aims to link emerging makers with each other, whilst exploring key topics essential to nurturing business success. We run our events in person at the Goldsmiths’ Centre and across the UK with a range of partners, and every other month our events take place online, so that as many of our community as possible can exchange ideas, learn from industry experts, and form valuable connections.
We do not record or broadcast our events to encourage the open sharing of ideas and experiences. Popular topics will be repeated over time, so online and in-person participations can both engage in them.
We are committed to making our training programmes and events as inclusive and accessible as possible. If you have any access requirements, please inform us as early as possible and we will do our utmost to so we can make the reasonable adjustments. While we will do our best to accommodate your needs, advance notice is essential to ensure we can provide appropriate support.

Who are the speakers?
Susannah King began her journey as a repair goldsmith in her father’s workshop in Twyford, UK. The slow-paced village life of Twyford called for refurbishing family heirlooms and traditional craft. Susannah learned refined jewellery making and repairing skills from her father and grandfather, before enrolling at the British Academy of Jewellery to hone her knowledge at the age of 21.
Susannah was a break-through designer for a new rebellious movement of jewellery: alternative-fine. Her experimental designs were picked up by Paul Smith, NY, and Farfetch. Susannah worked with the Amsterdam Fashion institute as an accessories designer during this time, expanding her knowledge and design skills.
In 2020, Susannah self-isolated in her London bedroom, creating jewellery at her make-shift workbench and posting the process online. Her videos and designs hit viral status, which saw her carefully crafted “drops” of jewellery sell-out in minutes.
The strong Foundation of Susannah King London enabled Susannah to grow her team and open and bricks-and-mortar store in Kensington, London in 2024.
