Discover a new generation of jewellers redefining the role of colour in contemporary jewellery. Crafted in Colour at the New Ashgate Gallery brings this shift into focus, presenting a national showcase of early-career makers from the Goldsmiths’ Centre’s alumni network.
The exhibition celebrates contemporary jewellery that is bold, refined, and expertly made. From anodised niobium creating controlled interference colours, to vitreous enamel, PVD coatings and 3D printed elements, these makers explore colour as an integral part of form, structure, and wearability. Some works layer reflective metals and stones, creating subtle shifts as the piece moves on the body, demonstrating a new approach where colour is engineered, not just decorative.
The show spans wearable everyday pieces, limited editions, and statement jewellery, offering collectors and gift buyers a rare opportunity to discover emerging UK talent outside of London. With a focus on craftsmanship, originality, and strong visual impact, Crafted in Colour is a highlight of Farnham's summer cultural programme.
The makers are Deborah Beck, Heather Blake, Xinyi Chen, Alice Fry, Roxanne Gilbert, Iona Hall, Emma Lawrence, Cara Lowe, Misha McLean, Poppy Norton, Will Sharp, Charlotte Smith, Katie Watson and Niamh Wright.
All participants have taken part in the Goldsmiths' Centre's Shine programme, an annual, free, 4-month part-time programme supporting early-career makers to bring a new collection to market and build a sustainable business. Organised by New Ashgate Gallery in partnership with the Goldsmiths’ Centre, this exhibition is a rare chance to experience the future of British jewellery in one place.
