Join us for a special behind-the-scenes workshop at the Crafts Council’s collection store at their headquarters in Islington. You will have the chance to explore a phenomenal selection of modern and contemporary jewellery representing diverse expression in a range of materials and forms.
You will have the rare opportunity to discuss and draw work by pioneering designers including Esna Su, Jo Hayes-Ward, Eleanor Bolton, David Poston, Leah Miles, Maria Militsi, Adam Paxon, Sarah King, David Watkins, Jack Cunningham, Grainne Morton, Angela O'Kelly, Wendy Ramshaw, Hans Stofer, Vicky Ambery-Smith, Chatwin (Peter) Martin (Pamela), James Cox, Angus Suttie, Babara Alcock, Caroline Broadhead and Eric Spiller, many of whom were at the centre of the New Jewellery Movement that developed from the 1970s. Their work, which embraces many non-precious materials including textiles and plastics, gave rise to new forms, scales and colours in jewellery that have shaped the plural and diverse nature of adornment today.
