As one of the fastest-growing social networks of our decade, Instagram is constantly adding new features and tools to benefit you and your business.

Instagram is a content and storytelling haven with a community of engaged users, ample features and unique DNA that allows you to share creatively in real time. Research from the Goldsmiths’ Company shows that fine jewellery consumers often use it to discover new designers and their work.

In this live online workshop, social media consultant and trainer Alison Battisby will guide you through best practices, strategies and actionable steps to begin leveraging Instagram for your business.

This online course will be accessible via the Goldsmiths’ Centre’s Virtual Learning Environment (VLE) for a full month after delivery. This will allow you to rewatch the content and improve your skills in your own time.

What key topics does the course cover?

Learn the fundamentals of running a successful Instagram account

  • Identify what makes a good Instagram post, and learn how to stand out
  • Discover how to carry out hashtag research and when to use them
  • Learn about Instagram Stories including when and how they should be used
  • Learn how to set up and optimise Instagram Shopping
  • Understand how to measure the success of your Instagram account

What will I learn?

This workshop has been designed for jewellers and silversmiths who want to connect with their consumers and grow their brand using Instagram. It will involve live demonstrations, practical tasks and Q&A to give you a great understanding of how to use Instagram to its fullest potential.

To further help you put the theory into practice, the course fee includes the ability to re-watch a recording of the session, as many times as you wish for one month after the course ends.

You will also be able to download selected Goldsmiths’ Company research findings around consumer types, preferences, which social media they use and what they use it for; and a copy of the slides from the session

How do I access this online course?

The course will be delivered live on Zoom, so you will need reliable Internet access. You will enter the course (and can re-watch the recording) via the Goldsmiths’ Centre’s virtual learning environment, which works on any mainstream web browser, on computer, tablet, or smartphone device. One week before the course starts you will be emailed full details of how to access the course.

Who is this course designed for?

This course is suitable for those with no previous social media training, but who are current users of Instagram. You need to have a working Instagram business account to get the most out of the course – business accounts have different features to personal accounts.

Alison Battisby is a digital marketing instructor and social media expert with over 10 years’ experience. Founder and Managing Director of Avocado Social, Alison is an accredited ‘She Means Business’ Facebook trainer, and has provided training and consultancy for a number of high-profile brands including Estee Lauder, Interflora, Tesco, John Lewis and the BBC, as well as countless small and growing businesses.

The Goldsmiths’ Centre has been working with Alison to apply her knowledge and experience to our industry. Alison has been delivering our social media business courses for several years, supporting start-up and established jewellers and silversmiths.
