Be part of a four-day short course that takes you on a journey of ring design from the creation of embryonic idea to a presentative image.

Led by freelance multi award-winning designer of jewellery and objet d’art, Jennifer Bloy FRSA FIPG, this short course will introduce you to the concepts of ring design and some of the processes needed along the way.

This short course runs over 4 days (Thursday 14, Friday 15, Thursday 21 and Friday 22 June 2018). With limited spaces, it offers you the chance to get individual guidance suited to your needs. It is suitable for emerging to established jewellery designers and craftspeople.

What does the course cover?

  • Gain the confidence to put your ideas onto paper
  • Learn how to communicate both verbally and through drawing for and in front of clients
  • Experiment with the 2D presentation process through painting to a finished image

What do I need to bring with me?

  • Day 1: At least 4 printed images which can be used to create your first design (not jewellery please)
  • Day 2: Printed images of at least 2 jewellers work which you find interesting or inspiring
  • Day 3 & 4: Refined sketches of your work ready to use.

The Goldsmiths’ Centre provides all materials needed for the course, but if you wish you are welcome to bring your own materials with which to experiment on each day.

This short course has been programmed in celebration of the exhibition Hidden Treasures, revealing the skills of the Fellows of the Institute of Professional Goldsmiths (IPG).
