Each year the Goldsmiths’ Craft and Design Council (GC & DC) attracts over 600 competition entries from talented UK based designers and craftsmen. This showcase reveals their award-winning work ranging from jewellery to tableware and objet d’art.

The Goldsmiths’ Craft and Design Council (GC&DC) hosts its annual nationwide competition, known and respected as the Oscars of the industry, that attracts widespread interest and participation from students, designers and companies. With 32 different categories and other special prizes these comprehensive Awards represent every aspect and activity in the profession, attracting over 600 2D and 3D entries each year.
Over 100 industry expert judges assess work to ascertain if Councils high bench mark standards have been met and apportion Gold, Silver and Bronze Awards accordingly. The competition culminates in a significant Awards evening at Goldsmiths’ Hall and a public exhibition of award-winning work and selected entries. The competition is strongly supported by the industry with over 80 sponsors, headed by the Goldsmiths’ Company, as its founding and leading Patron. It is free to enter and encourages participation and involvement to raise standards, share good practice and support the industry.
The 2018 GC & DC Award Winners Retrospective exhibition showcases and celebrates Councils award-winning work that embraces the spectrum of design, craft and technological activities in the industry, whether made by hand, using technology or in combinations. This collective promotes excellence in jewellery, smallwork and silversmithing and the allied crafts. In addition, this exhibition embraces a feature showcase of competition entrants who/that have won the highly acclaimed Goldsmiths’ Company Award, which is only given when the highest standards of design and originality have been achieved.
