This Creative Inspiration Workshop celebrates the work of virtuoso engraver Malcolm Appleby, MBE. Frequently playful, sometimes mystical, but always technically masterful, his engraving on metal is often inspired by nature and the landscape of his beloved Scotland, playing on what Appleby describes as “subtle textures and informal surfaces”.
The Goldsmiths’ Company’s Library and Archive has recently received a significant gift of design drawings from this maker, and participants in this session will have the chance to view these drawings alongside books and images celebrating Appleby’s work.
Join the Library and Archive team to explore the work of this most influential and imaginative of designers.
There will be the opportunity to photograph and make drawings from the materials available to explore.
