Go on a behind-the-scenes guided tour of the exhibition Hidden Treasures and the ancient jewellery quarter, Hatton Garden, gaining unique access to the workshops of the Fellows of the Institute of Professional Goldsmiths (IPG).
Creating a unique piece of jewellery or contemporary silverware involves the skilful collaboration of a talented community of craftspeople. Join the Fellows of the Institute of Professional Goldsmiths to discover some of the hidden skills practiced in Hatton Garden and what it takes to excel as a goldsmith.
The guided tour starts with a delicious seasonal lunch at the Goldsmiths’ Centre. You will then be introduced to four of the IPG Fellows in their workshops located in Hatton Garden who are all showcasing their outstanding work as part of the Hidden Treasures exhibition:
- Wax modeller Russell Lownsbrough
- Stone Cutter John Taylor of Charles Matthew’s & Co
- Jeweller and enameller Ingo Henn of Ingo Henn London
- Goldsmiths’ Craft & Design Council Cartier Award winner Stan Somerford
You will be able to find out more about their work, making processes and what it means to be a member of the IPG. Upon returning to the Goldsmiths’ Centre, Curator Charlotte Dew will provide an insight into the making of the exhibition Hidden Treasures and the pieces on display.
This event has been programmed in celebration of the exhibition Hidden Treasures, revealing the skills of the Fellows of the Institute of Professional Goldsmiths (IPG).
