If you’re aged 16-19 and set on a career in jewellery or goldsmithing you’ll need the right training and support.
What is the Foundation Programme?
Our full-time Foundation Programme at the Goldsmiths’ Centre provides young people with the core skills to begin a career in jewellery, silversmithing or the allied trades.
You will be taught traditional techniques from Master craftspeople as well as cutting edge technologies. The course is workshop based and covers:
- fine jewellery
- polishing and finishing techniques
- Computer Aided Design (CAD)
- design and drawing skills
You will also have the opportunity to get hands-on work experience with a professional company.
Why apply for the Foundation Programme?
You will graduate with the hand skills needed to become an apprentice – perhaps through The Goldsmiths’ Company Apprenticeship Scheme – or to go on to a job, or further or higher education courses.
You may also gain the City & Guilds Level 2 Diploma in Jewellery Manufacturing plus additional units in Employability and Creative Skills.
