The Charity
An enterprise with a charitable purpose
The Goldsmiths' Company has
established a new charitable body to manage and administer the
Goldsmiths' Centre.
It has a single primary aim: to advance and develop art,
craft, design and artisan skills in particular, but not
exclusively, for goldsmiths.
The new Centre provides more than just a new home for
goldsmiths. It establishes a professional environment in which
members of the trade can acquire new skills or improve existing
ones through the newly established Goldsmiths' Institute, the educational
element of the Charity. The Centre offers the public an insight
into the work of a goldsmith or jeweller and fosters greater
interest in the industry as a whole.
How we do this
- Provide managed workspace, education and training for public
benefit
- Foster, promote and extend public interest in art, craft,
design and artisan skills
- Provide a hub for those engaged or interested in these
skills
The Charity assists young people into skilled employment through
vocational training. The Charity creates a sustainable future for
the industry by bringing together education and commerce through a
community of like-minded individuals and businesses, both from
within the industry as well as from the allied trades and
associated crafts. This enhances the potential of the Centre by
reaching out to a wider and more diverse audience, encouraging them
to visit, work and learn here.
We also help to create a sustainable future for the
industry by bringing together education and commerce. We
acheive this by building an enduring community of like-minded
individuals and businesses from the industry and the associated
trades.
