Located in the heart of Clerkenwell, the Goldsmiths’ Centre is the UK’s leading charity for the professional training of goldsmiths. Since 2012, we bring together trainee and working goldsmiths and those interested in jewellery, silversmithing and the allied trades in a unique community that works and learns together. Our aim is to create a skilled workforce, boost the economy and promote craftsmanship in the UK.
WHAT WE DO
Founded by the Goldsmiths’ Company in 2007, we strive to advance, maintain and develop art, craft, design and artisan skills including (but not exclusively) those related to goldsmithing. As well as our charitable mission, our values – Creativity, Craftsmanship and Community – are part of everything we do. They enable us to ensure that goldsmithing makes a valuable contribution to our society now and for future generations.
We support aspiring goldsmiths and those working within the industry by providing access to a range of programmes and courses at our purpose built facility. Led by highly experienced tutors, we offer access to traditional skills such as diamond mounting, setting and silversmithing; alongside contemporary processes such as micro-setting, laser welding and Computer Aided Design.
Our specialist events, talks and courses offer an inspiring insight into the goldsmiths’ craft. We are a hub where like-minded people can share ideas, collaborate and stay up to date on emerging technologies, techniques and innovations. Our free exhibition programme offers a showcase for our fascinating industry – its outstanding creativity and craftsmanship.
We help talented designer makers and businesses to thrive by offering 23 affordable studio and workshop spaces at the Goldsmiths’ Centre. As part of a creative business community, resident craftspeople are given the optimum environment and facilities to share ideas, skills, collaborate or teach others, producing their best work and running a successful business.
